Care Options

Independent Living

Independent living apartments are very similar to one or two bedroom apartments, but made from the ground up with seniors in mind.  They include full kitchens as well as washers and dryers located in Connecticut.  The community is responsible for all maintenance, utilities, and activities.  Meals are often included as well.  While no care will be provided by the community, residents are free to utilize private home care aides if desired.

Assisted Living

A private studio, one bedroom, or two bedroom apartment.  Most have kitchenettes, while some do have full kitchens.  Almost everything is covered by the community including meals, laundry, utilities, maintenance, transportation, and care.  Most communities charge rent plus the cost of care.  Many physicians visit the community to care for the residents, saving the family time and hassle.  While each community is different, we are lucky to have several in New York that specialize in delivering extremely high care.  Some communities can handle wound care, two person transfers, wheelchairs, oxygen management, diabetes management, specialized diets, as well as palliative or hospice care.  It is rare that someone needs to be in a nursing home due to their care needs, and most people can be well cared for in assisted living which is both cheaper and nicer than any nursing home.

Memory Care

Assisted living for those with advanced dementia.  As many residents with dementia may wander, these units are secured to prevent anyone getting out unaccompanied.  Most rooms are studios, though there are some one bedroom apartments available in our New York location.  Pretty much everything is taken care of by the community, usually for a flat fee.  Again, we are fortunate to have several communities in New York that are capable of handling people with very high care needs, or those with complex behaviors due to their dementia.
